Gutter cleaning for Wellington homes and properties
Gutter cleaning is part of our property maintenance service for homes, rentals and commercial premises. We start by understanding the property and the access needed to reach the gutters safely. The written scope sets out the cleaning work and any other checks agreed at the visit.
Keep a record of the last clean and the spots that collect leaves. Our home maintenance checklist helps connect gutter care with nearby timber, wall and drainage observations.
Cleaning and repair are different tasks. If the guttering has a damaged joint, a sagging section or an outlet problem, removing debris alone may not resolve the symptom. We explain what we find and discuss the next step.
When overflowing gutters need more than cleaning
| Observation from the ground | What it may need |
|---|---|
| Debris or vegetation visible at the edge | Cleaning and a check around the outlet. |
| Water spills at the same low section | A check for blockage, support and alignment. |
| A joint drips after rain | Assessment of the joint and surrounding gutter. |
| Overflow continues after a clean | A wider look at outlets, downpipes and the way the system handles rain. |
These are clues, not a diagnosis from a photograph. Our overflowing gutter guide explains what to observe and when to call for help.
How often should gutters be cleaned?
There is no one schedule that suits every property. Trees above the roof, the rate of leaf build-up, roof layout and previous blockages all affect the right interval. Check from the ground after heavy leaf fall and significant weather, and arrange cleaning before known trouble spots fill again.
For a rental or commercial property, keep the cleaning date, any findings and the next review date with your maintenance records. That makes it easier to spot a recurring problem and explain it when you book the next visit.
Autumn is a useful time to plan ahead for wetter weather. The winter home maintenance checklist covers related checks around drainage, exterior timber and entrances.
Access and preparing for a quote
Tell us how many storeys the building has, whether there is a sloping site, and whether narrow paths, conservatories or extensions affect access. Include gates, parking restrictions and tenant or business access arrangements. These details influence how the job can be carried out.
You can help by sending photographs taken from the ground. Leave roof access and work at height to people with suitable equipment and a safe method. We do not need you to climb up to measure gutter lengths.
The amount of guttering, debris, access requirements and any additional work determine the quote. We provide an itemised written quote before starting; mention any suspected leaks or damaged sections so they can be considered separately.
Your questions
Will cleaning fix every gutter overflow?
Cleaning can resolve a debris blockage, but overflow can also involve outlets, downpipes, damaged sections or the gutter alignment. Tell us where it happens so the cause can be assessed.
Can gutter cleaning be included with other maintenance?
Yes. Add it to your property maintenance list and tell us about other exterior problems when you arrange the visit.
Tell us about your gutters
Include the property location, number of storeys, access around the building and where water overflows. A ground-level photo of the roofline helps us plan the assessment.
