What’s the difference between Dog and Bird and RG Carpentry?
Dog and Bird and RG Carpentry are sister companies in Wellington. Dog and Bird handles short-form work — repairs, property maintenance, painting and small renovation projects. RG Carpentry takes on long-form building work: full renovations, extensions and managed projects. Both share the same people, standards and trade network, so you get the right-sized team either way.
What areas do you service?
We service residential and commercial properties across Wellington, New Zealand.
Is any job too small?
No — small jobs are our whole business, not filler between big builds. Sticking doors, leaking spouting, a fence panel, a wall that needs patching: that’s exactly what Dog and Bird exists for.
How does quoting work?
We start with a site visit, then send you a written, itemised quote before any work begins — so you know exactly what’s included and what it costs. No vague estimates.
Can you handle jobs that need a plumber or electrician?
Yes. We coordinate trusted plumbers and certified electricians as part of the job, so you deal with one crew and one quote instead of juggling trades yourself.
What if my job turns out bigger than expected?
If a job grows beyond short-form scope, we hand it to our sister company RG Carpentry — one of South Wellington’s established carpentry firms — without you having to start over with a new builder.
Do you work with landlords and property managers?
Yes. We handle one-off repairs and scheduled maintenance plans for rental and commercial properties, with written quotes and tidy, documented work.
